November 16 | DIRRUWUNG | EVANS HEAD
Art on Bundjalung 2024 took place on the river foreshore in Dirruwung | Evans Head in November. This was the biggest Art on Bundjalung to date; a fantastic day of creativity under stunning weather.
This free community event was a unique opportunity to purchase local First Nations artwork and to meet the makers. Over 30 market stalls of both established and emerging artists featured traditional and contemporary materials including weaving, ceramics, carving, photography, painting and textiles.
Developed in partnership with Richmond Valley Council, Art on Bundjalung featured a full cultural program including a Welcome to Country by Bandjalang Traditional Custodian Aunty Simone Barker, live music and performance, cultural dance, workshops, and jarjum activities.
Art on Bundjalung wouldn’t have been possible without our community partners – Jagun Aliiance who ran our community BBQ and Reflections Evans Head, Holiday and Caravan Park.

Art on Bundjalung 2024 Program
Art on Bundjalung x Aunty Simone Barker
In 2024, Art on Bundjalung worked with Aunty Simone Barker, custodian and knowledge holder for the Bandjalang people, in guiding the development of the event for Dirruwung | Evans Head.
In a new initiative for 2024, Art on Bundjalung commissioned Aunty Simone Barker to design an exclusive print, exploring the connection of Bandjalang peoples to this place.
A limited run of t-shirts featuring Aunty Simone’s design was available for purchase at Art on Bundjalung. All proceeds from purchases will support future Art on Bundjalung artist commissions.
