December 18 | LISMORE

Art on Bundjalung returned to the Lismore Quad on Saturday 18th of December. The market brought over 5,000 visitors to Widjabul Wiabul Country and generated over $39,000 in sales for stallholders. Check out 2021’s impressive line up of artists below!

 The event also featured a full cultural program including a Welcome to Country and live music from Uncle Billy Smith, Michael Laurie and Sione Senior with Sione, Sisosaia, Sislilia and Mafileo. Audiences from afar travelled to enjoy cultural dance performances from Nini Nahri Gali and Deadly Bunarhms; music performances including Lennox Monaghan; delicious native food stalls featuring Currie Country, Bakarindi and Natural Ice Cream Australia; plus face painting and jarjums activities. Casino Wake Up Time, renowned for supporting cultural renewal of traditional weaving and their artistic native plant dyeing of silk, hosted a weaving workshop on the day as well.

  • Amarina Gallery

    Named after the Bundjalung word for rain, Amarina Gallery is located in the heart of Lismore showcasing local artists who have a connection to Bundjalung country. At the Art on Bundjalung Market, Amarina Gallery will be representing some of the artists on display who produce canvas artworks, textiles, up-cycled clothing and small gifts.

  • Bakarindi Bushfoods

    Bakarindi proudly shares age old nourishment of bush foods and strives to grow employment opportunities and reclaims and strengthens their cultural custodianship in the bush food industry. Bakarindi will be selling jams, chutney, pickles, marmalades, butters and spices using native bush foods at Art on Bundjalung Market.

  • Casino Wake Up Time

    Casino Wake Up Time Group has been meeting for over a decade out of a need to support each other during difficult times through creative arts. They are renowned for supporting cultural renewal of traditional weaving and their artistic native plant dyeing of silk. The women have transformed their passion for weaving into a gorgeous collection of garments and jewellery. Traditional methods and natural materials are extremely important to the group who are trying to preserve and reintegrate their culture. The pieces created are produced using traditional weaving techniques for handbags, bracelets and hats and coil stitch for the mats and jewellery. At Art on Bundjalung the group will sell a range of woven works, textiles, and ceramics.

  • Jugan Dandii

    Jugan Dandii ( Embrace the Land) embodies their business name by respecting and retracing their ancestors' way of living on Country. Gathering natural fibres and connecting with the environment around them, Jugan Dandii creates a variety of woven pieces.

  • Raelene Mirindo

    Raelene Mirindo is a contemporary Indigenous artist born and raised in the northern beaches of Sydney. Raelene’s artwork is mainly sea themed and is inspired from her love of growing up next to the beach and also from her time spent in the Kimberleys. Raelene’s artwork is all about experimenting with different mediums especially ink and acrylic. At the Art on Bundjalung Market she will be selling paintings, prints, home decor, jewellery, hand painted feathers and memorial gifts.

  • SOPHT Studio

    Sophie May is a ceramicist and painter, currently in her second year of studying Contemporary Australian Indigineous art at QCA. She is a Gamilaraay woman, currently living and creating on Bundjalung Country. At the Art on Bundjalung Market, Sophie will be selling her ceramics, original paintings and prints.

  • Jessica & Mikayla

    Jessica and Mikayla, two friends since medical school, have come together to showcase their own art projects. Jessica produces beautiful artworks while Mikayla sews Aboriginal designed face masks.

  • Yidabal Galii Maa

    Yidabal Galii Maa was established in 2019 as a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated family business, based in Ballina. Their aim is to break down cultural barriers and generate a deeper understanding of the land and its importance to all of us. At Art on Bundjalung, Yidabal Galii Maa will be selling traditionally made artifacts and coolamons.

  • Blue Healer | Kristina Davis

    Kristina is a proud Yuwi and Butchala woman who is living and creating on Bundjalung country. Her paintings use symbolism to tell the traditional stories of her family’s connection to Country. At the Art on Bundjalung Markets she will be selling medium sized canvas artworks.

  • Toys Change Lives (TCL)

    Toys Change Lives (TCL) is a toy workshop with a difference. TCL is a workshop staffed by Indigenous mentors and youth who have had a brush with the justice system and are believed to be ‘at risk’. From this humble beginning, wherein the youths took these basic toys and decorated them with beautiful Indigenous decorations, TCL has evolved into a workshop and gallery space located in Casino. At Art on Bundjalung Market TCL will be selling beautiful handmade boomerangs, didgeridoos, Indigenous artworks, wooden jewellery, educational maps and of course their signature item…toys!

  • Panangka for the Plants

    Jenny Fraser is a digital native working within a fluid screen-based practice. Her old people hail from Migunberri Yugambeh Country in the Scenic Rim, the Northern Bundjalung, on the border district between South East Queensland and the NSW Northern Rivers region. Her current focus is healing work with Bush Foods, Plant Medicine, Flower Essences and other Body Work, using the raw energy of plants, helping people to help themselves and revitalising ancient practices. Her artwork for the Art on Bundjalung includes a photomedia series, initiated through photography of native plants and re-designed for limited edition prints on canvas, then hand-painted to create an aura.

  • Kay Lee Williams

    Kay is an emerging Kamilaroi artist born in Narrabri NSW, living on Bundjalung country. She is currently working with silk and wool, creating wearable scarves, wall hangings and soft furnishings. Kay sources beautifully coloured plant fibres, leaves and roots to create natural bush dyes creating surface patterns and colours on textiles. Her work is about identity and place with references to elements, water and earth illustrating her experience with traditional and contemporary techniques and cultural themes. At Art on Bundjalung Market, Kay will be selling her signature scarves, wall hangings and textiles.

  • Tracey Estreich

    Tracey is a Bundjalung woman, inspired by places, lived experiences and people. Her art practice is evolving, focusing on saltwater & freshwater themes and using different mediums. Tracey recently completed a Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts. At the Art on Bundjalung Market Tracey will be selling paintings, sculptural works and prints.

  • Connection City | Thomas Avery

    Tom is a proud Kamilaroi/Maori craftsman who works with Native Timbers and creates one of a kind boomerangs and clap sticks.

  • Nan and Nay

    Shanaya is a proud Yaegl and Bundjalung young woman who is learning artistic skills from her Nan, Vickki King. Together with their family they create unique pieces that can be used in everyday life.

  • Rosie Vesper

    Rosie is a proud Bundjalung woman. She paints about her connection to the land around her, and uses natural recycled materials for her handmade jewellery. At Art on Bundjalung you will find Rosie selling a range of handmade bush medicine soaps, jewelry, small artworks, and children’s gifts.community and beyond.

  • Koori Mail

    Koori Mail is a fortnightly national newspaper that is 100% Indigenous owned and funded. Operating since 1991, the newspaper has grown to the point where it is recognised as ‘The Voice of Indigenous Australia’. The Koori Mail is not just a successful national publication – it’s also a true Aboriginal success story, jointly owned by five small Aboriginal organisations in Bundjalung country. Come meet some of the Koori Mail team at this Art on Bundjalung Market and pick yourself up a range of merchandise options including shirts, hoodies and umbrellas.

  • Jill Rock Designs

    Jill is a proud Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr woman who has been a practicing artist for her whole life. She is currently working in community sharing her passion for art. Jill will be selling jewellery, dilly bags, greeting cards and other small goods at the Art on Bundjalung Market.

  • Rolls Works

    Rouline is a proud Bundjalung woman from the local Lismore region. Rouline has a background of fine art and Aboriginal art and specialises in handmade pendants and beaded jewellery. She is working in community to pass on her knowledge to the next generation. At the Art on Bundjalung market Rouline will be selling her jewellery, and displaying her brother’s canvas paintings.
